REQUIREMENTS: Grade 12 (Matric) plus a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration/Social Science/Disaster Management/Traffic Safety Management (Law Enforcement)/Security Management or any other equivalent qualification on an NQF 7. Candidate must have at least 5 years’ experience in Public Safety environment of which 2 years of those must be in a Supervisory or middle Management level in the relevant field. Candidate must be PSIRA graded and must have fire-arm proficiency certificate. Candidate must be in possession of a valid South African driver’s license preferably Code 10. Must demonstrate a high level of Communication Skills, interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, report writing skills and computer skills. Candidate must not have any criminal record.

DUTIES: Candidate must be able to direct, plan, lead and control a continuous and integrated multi-disciplinary and multi-sector process of structured planning and implementation of measures to lessen the potential adverse impacts of natural and human induced physical hazards. Oversee the management of the Public Safety annual budget process to ensure sound financial management practices that are in line with the budgetary requirements. Be able to ensure that key responsibility areas are identified, planning, and managing emergency communications, support to emergency and essential services during normal and emergency operations. Develop the division’s strategic programmes and operational plans. Monitor and measure the division’s performance against the SDBIP to ensure achievement of the Municipality’s objectives and targets. Perform any other duties or functions that may be assigned by the Director: Community Services and/or Municipal Manager.

Provide leadership and direction in the formulation of policies and programmes. Be able to advise and assists in development of SMMEs. Be able to manage business compliance and adherence to the relevant business regulations. Co-ordinate all the unit’s related functions including relevant and administrative and budgeting aspects. Integrate the unit’s functions within the IDP. Assist in developing and reviewing policies and procedures on LED, Agriculture and Tourism. Promote tourism locally, provincially and nationally.
